New from Pico Digital – EM-HD-SDI Encoder Module

August 14, 2015 San Diego, California – Pico Digital Inc., a worldwide leader in providing comprehensive multi-media delivery solutions to customers in the broadband, satellite, cable, and broadcast markets, today launched new EM-HD-SDI dual encoder modules for its PD1000 encoding, multiplexing, and modulation platform. The modules allow for the direct connection of professional video cameras or digital studio equipment utilizing HD-SDI signals into the PD1000 platform for distribution over QAM or IP networks.

“We are proud to offer our customers the new EM-HD-SDI input modules, which allow them to enhance their service offering by cost-effectively encoding and distributing video obtained from HD-SDI sources,” said Carlos Shteremberg, president of Pico Digital. “Products such as these truly highlight our expertise in delivering scalable, flexible, and reliable digital processing solutions for television distribution.”

The professional-grade PD1000 HD encoder modulation system allows users to encode HD, SD, and HD-SDI signals in MPEG-2 or H.264 formats, all in a single rack space. The unit supports 480i to 1080p real-time encoding while offering the flexibility of two, four, six, or eight HDMI (in the clear), HD-SDI, component, and composite (closed captioning) inputs. The HD encoder offers simultaneous QAM and IP outputs.

For maximum bandwidth efficiency, the PD1000 supports multiplexing of external compressed streams via IP and up to four HD programs in one QAM channel. The unit offers integrated support for an Emergency Alert System (EAS) and closed captioning, and provides PSIP virtual mapping of each channel. The PD1000 offers an easy-to-use web interface for remote control and monitoring of the unit.
