Nickless Schirmer partner Blonder Tongue recently announced its collaboration with Vanguard Video. The two companies will work together to create a real-time 4Kp60 encoder designed to meet the demands of UHD streaming and broadcast applications.
The Blonder Tongue LiveCastUHD encoder is a simple hardware solution that provides users with a way to capture, compress, multiplex and package video from a range of sources, including uncompressed 4K. Users can distribute live 4K content with up to 50 percent bandwidth savings, as compared with previous H.264 applications. Additionally, multiple HD channels can be throughput simultaneously and the solution supports adaptive bit rate encoding and on-the-fly parameter switching.
Vanguard Video's HEVC compression engine, V.265, is an integral part of the LiveCastUHD, providing unparalleled quality and offering a variety of advanced features. These include: interlace support, customizable GOP structure, GOP-aligned ABR multistreaming support and on-the-fly controls to change resolution, bitrate and GOP structure.
"We are very excited about our partnership with Vanguard Video which moves Blonder Tongue onto the fast track in the rapidly growing HEVC market, LiveCastUHD will be a great companion to our upcoming 4K decoder line." said Jeff Smith, vice president of sales at Blonder Tongue. Raul Diaz, Vanguard Video CEO, said of Blonder Tongue: "They have a tremendous history of providing professional, cost effective solutions for their customers, and we share their belief that HEVC is poised to take off dramatically in 2015. "
LiveCastUHD is a scalable application suited to multi-processor architectures and is optimized for low latency. The encoder is highly configurable and the application program interface allows OEMs to tune the hardware solution to their precise specifications.
